Nice is the most famous resort on the French Riviera. The most known attraction is The Promenade des Anglais ("Promenade of the English") which is a promenade along the Baie des Anges in Nice.
During the 18th century, a lot of English people spent the winter in Nice, at those years a walk way was constructed, now called chemin de promenade, along the sea.
This Promenade was first called the Camin dei Anglès. After the annexation of Nice by France in 1860 the name La Promenade des Anglais started to be used, instead.
