March

Annunciation to the Blessed Virgin Mary (March 25th) – Greeks celebrate the Annunciation of Virgin Mary and also the Greek Revolution against Turks. It is a public holiday and locals celebrate with parades.
In the village of Paleochora there is music and fun.

August

The Agricultural August (August 1st - 10th) – This event in Chania is held at the old Venetian port. People promote local agricultural products, art and dance events.
Blessing of the fruit of the earth (First Sunday of August) - The festival takes place at the Monastery of Archangel Michael (Rotonda) Kato Episkopi.
Transfiguration of Jesus (August 6th) - The festival takes place in Kalives, Xirosterni, Likotinara, Voukolies, Maleme, Kakopetro, Plemeniana, Karres, Sassalos.
The Assumption of Virgin Mary (August 15th) - The festival takes place in the beautiful village of Therissos and in Chrisoskalitissa, in the beautiful monastery.
St. Ioannis Rigologos festival (August 29th) - It takes place in Giona Rodopos, Manoliopoulo, Kournas, Douliana, Stilos.

April

Festivity of St. George (April 23rd or the next day of the Easter) – The festival takes place in a few villages of Chania, in Vrises and Nea Roumata, in Kalogeroa of Strovles,  Psathogianno, Kambanos, Platanias and Asi Gonia.
In Asi Gonia there is a festival where milk, meat and pilaf is offered by the shepherds.

September

Sardine festival (September 1st - 10th) - It takes place in Nea Chora and in Souda.
The Holy Cross (September 14th) - It takes place in Alikianos, Xamoudoxori, Varipetro, Tavronitis, Nippos, Rodovani.
St. Nikitas festival (September 15th) - It takes place in Fragokastelo and there are horse races and athletic games.
Virgin Mary Mirtidiotisa (September 24th) - It takes place in Kalives.
World Day of Tourism (September 27th) - Festive events at the old harbour of Chania.

May

Feast of the Saint John (May 8th) – It is a traditional Sfakiano festival in Sfakia.
Celebration of the battle of Crete (second fortnight of May) – There are cultural events in Chania where locals celebrate for the memory of those who were killed.
Athletic events (May - September) - The municipality of Nea Kydonia organizes those events that include beach volley - beach soccer - beach handball and racket games.

October

Holy Fathers (October 7th) - Festival in Azogyras village where people visit the impressive cave of the Holy Fathers.
Chestnut festivity (end of October or beginning of November) - I takes place in Prases and Elos.

June

Cherries Festivity in Karanou - An annual event of Chania.
The Nativity of St John the Baptist (June 24th) - The festival takes place in Sebronas, Apopigadi, on a very high place with unique view.
Festivity of St. Ioannis Klidonas (June 24th) – The festival takes place in Fres, Akrotiri, Perivolia, Therisso, Vamvakopoulo.
Petros and Pavlos festivity (June 26th) – The festival takes place in Kalives.
Naval week festival (June 29th – July 6th) – It is an annual event in Chania.

November

Tsikoudia (local drink) festivity - It takes place in Neoria - Chania, Loutraki Kidonias, Kandanos, Lake of Platanias.
Archangel Michael (November 8th) - Celebration in the chapel of the Archangel Michael in Aradena Village in the impressive canyon of the Gorge.
Festival of St. Catherine (November 25th) - It takes place in Koustogerako.

July

Festival of St Antony in Sougia (July 1st - 2nd) – It is a unique traditional festival in the seaside chapel in playgrounds.
Lissos Festival (July 15th) - In ancient Lissos people arrive either on foot or by boat from Sougia to celebrate Saint Kirikos.
Elafonisia (July 21st - 28th) - This event in Chania is a memorial service at the monument of Elafonisi and there are athletic games, performances, festivity in honor of the elderly and traditional treat.
Cultural Summer Events (July - August - September) - The municipality of Chania, Kisamos, Nea Kydonia, Pelekanos and Georgioupolis organize events that include music, theatre, exhibitions and concerts.

December

New Year Festival (Dec 31st - Jan 1st) - The Municipality of Chania organizes a celebration at the Market Square for the New Year.
Christmas night (December 24th) - Representation of the birth of Jesus in Topolia and Marathokefalas caves.
