Holy Week and Easter (March - April) - During the Holy Week and Easter celebrations in Malta you will find many processions and re-enactments including live representations of the Passion of Christ and scenes from the Old Testament. At the opening procession the Statue of Our Lady of Sorrows is carried through the streets of Valletta on the Friday before Palm Sunday, although the Good Friday procession is the most memorable of all.
Il Vitorja (September 8th) – Due to commemorate the end of the Great Siege of 1565 and the end of the French occupation of Malta in 1800 a parade by the Armed Forces of Malta is held in the morning. During the afternoon a traditional rowing boat regatta takes place in the Grand Harbour.

International Fireworks Festival (April - May) – In Valetta harbor several Maltese and foreign fireworks factories participate in this competitive event, presenting spectacular pyrotechnic displays synchronized to music.
Birgufestival – This festival in Vittoriosa offers open-air events, historical reenactments, street theatre and concerts. A special atmosphere is created during this event in Malta as on one evening the residents lighten up their houses and the whole area with candles and turn off the electric lights.
