Third Party Liability cover amounts included in the rates:
- For bodily injuries per accident, up to 2000000 NZD.
- For property damages per accident (excluding rented car), up to unlimited amount.
The following credit cards are accepted: American Express, Master / Eurocard, VISA.
A valid credit card in the name of the main driver must be presented as guarantee for the rental. Our local car rental partner may reserve an amount of up to 4000 NZD (depending on your selected car group) as guarantee, which will be released after the end of the rental period if no damage/theft has occurred.
Our car rental partner may apply a credit card surcharge for all transactions made by credit card locally. More information will be written on your voucher. This fee is common in New Zealand.
Please note that all local payments will be made in New Zealand Dollar (NZD).
Driver requirements :
Maximum age of driver is 79 years.
Driver must hold a full, valid licence for at least 1 year with no major endorsements.
International driver’s licence is required in case that the driver's licence is not in English.
Ferrying the car :
Domestic is normally allowed, but you may not be allowed to take the car on the interisland ferry (Wellington to Picton or vice versa).
You have to inform the car rental company that you will take the rented car on a ferry.
Across the border rentals :
are not allowed.
In case of offence against Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions all insurances lose their validity.
Other Information :
If you plan to make a one way trip from north to south island (or vice versa), you may have to return the vehicle in Wellington (north island) and pick up another one in Picton (south island), or vice versa. The rental must be a minimum of 3 days long in each island. Please contact our local car rental partner before your rental start date to make the necessary arrangements for such an one-way trip.
The vehicle should not be operated on any of the following roads: Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), all Roads North of Colville on the Coromandel Penninsula, the Tapu to Coroglen road (all parts east of Rapaura Gardens), the 309 road from Coromandel to Kairnarama and the Blackjack Road from Kuatuna and Opito, Macetown Access Road, Tasman Valley Road & Ball Hutt Road (Mt Cook), Skippers Canyon Road (Queenstown) and on the following highways on the South island between the hours 22:00 and 06:00 from the 1st of June until 30th of October : Arthur's Pass, the west coast road between Franz Joseph and Wanaka, the Milford Road between Te Anau and Milford Sound, State Highway 6 between Twizel and Queenstown.
